The new Elantra GT hatchback joins the lineup for 2018 and a new SEL trim replaces the former SE with Popular Equipment trim. The Limited trim adds gloss black interior accents and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Blue Link and HomeLink. The base 2.0-liter I-4 engine produces 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque and delivers an EPA-rated 26/36 mpg city/highway with the six-speed manual and 28/37 mpg with the six-speed automatic in the sedan (29/38 mpg in the base SE trim). In the Elantra GT, that engine delivers 23/31 mpg with the manual and 24/32 mpg with the automatic. The Elantra Eco produces 128 hp and 156 lb-ft from its 1.4-liter turbo-four that comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and delivers a lineup-best 32/40 mpg. The 1.6-liter turbo-four in the Sport model is rated at 22/30 mpg with the six-speed manual and 26/33 mpg with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic in the sedan. When equipped in the Elantra GT Sport, that engine delivers 22/29 mpg with the manual and 26/32 mpg with the automatic. All models are front-wheel drive.Safety
